Best Gaming Laptop Under $1000 of 2017 : ASUS ROG, MSI, Dell, Alienware, HP,Acer and Lenovo

1. ASUS ROG GL752VW-DH71 Best Gaming Laptop Under 1000

Strong gaming performance

  • Supports G-Sync for extra smoothness
  • Crisp, vibrant 1080p display
  • Useful gaming apps and macro keys
  • Stays cool
  • Bulky
  • Expensive

ASUS ROG GL752VW-DH71 is the best gaming laptop under 1000 Dollars with powerful 6th generation Intel Core i7-6700HQ 2.6GHz processor. It has 2GB NVIDIA GTX960M graphics and 17.3-inch FHD display. It has 16GB RAM and 1TB hard drive with 7200 hard drive rotational speed.

Some argue that you don’t really need more than 8GB of RAM, even for gaming in our current year of 2017. There are some merits to that argument, however it doesn’t hold up 100%, because of the simple fact that some games already have recommended RAM of 16GB, like Quantum Break, which lists 16GB RAM as recommended RAM—not minimum requirement RAM. However, that’s rare, and people often blame the developers’ poor coding for games that are that ridiculously demanding.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M graphics

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M graphics are a pretty popular choice for gaming laptop manufacturers and it’s obvious why: GTX 960M optimizes laptop gaming performance from multiple angles, making it and its sister graphics cards ideal for laptop gaming.

One the nicer features of GTX 960M is NVIDIA’s BatteryBoost technology which allows you to play unplugged for a lot longer as opposed to having a graphics card that doesn’t have that feature.

VRAM acts as an intermediary between your CPU and graphics card. Simplified, it works like this: Your processor receives a signal that an image needs to be displayed, it writes it to the VRAM which transmits it as an analog signal to the display. While casual or older games don’t necessarily need much VRAM—if any—VRAM is crucial to playing graphics-heavy, modern games. 2GB is more than enough to play most games on ultra or high settings.

2. ASUS ROG GL552VW-DH71 Best Gaming Laptop Under 1000

  • Solid 1080p gaming pace
  • Fast, versatile Core i7 processor
  • Smart design throughout
  • High-quality keyboard

  • Disappointing and inconsistent screen
  • Underwhelming speakers
  • Spongy trackpad

ASUS ROG GL552VW-DH71 is a 15.6-inch full HD Best Gaming Laptop under $1000 with powerful 6th generation Intel Core i7-6700U 2.6GHz processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 2GB graphics. It has 16GB RAM and 1TB hard drive with 7200RPM hard drive rotational speed. The Windows 10 OS installed on this gaming laptop.

ASUS ROG GL552VW-DH71The quad-core Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor runs at 2.6GHz stock speed, and is based on the latest sixth-generation (Skylake) microarchitecture that is both powerful and energy efficient. Asus includes overclocking utilities to tweak performance of the CPU and GPU, which is a rarity in most gaming laptops in the same price range. That CPU paired with 16GB of RAM, gives the GL552VW-DH71 decent performance of 3, 027 points on PCMark 8 Work Conventional, which is at par or even better than the competition since most of them hover at the 3,000-point mark.

As gaming laptops go, the ASUS ROG GL552VW-DH71 signals a step forward from Asus’s usual blend of high-octane gaming rigs, slimming down and becoming portable each day. Unfortunately, it sacrifices more in way of gaming performance that made past systems in the Republic of Gamers line popular. While this is probably just a bump in the road as Asus gets a handle on the ins and outs of making an ultraportable gaming laptop, this is clearly a first-iteration product. Still, I have seen things improve significantly on this system in ways of eye-catching gaming aesthetics, a glare-free Full HD IPS panel, great audio output with SonicMaster and AudioWizard setups as well as Asus’s own GameFirst III Technology that reduces lags in between games. All these plus other components such as the latest processors and 16 GB of RAM make the ROG GL552VW-DH71 worth an extra look as you shop around. For our top pick in the midrange gaming category, there’s always the Editors’ Choice Alienware AW15R2-6161SLV while the Dell Inspiron i7559-763BLK is our Editors’ Choice for budget entry-level gaming category, both thanks to superb performance and solid battery life.

3. Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition Best Gaming Laptop Under 1000

  • Stellar performance
  • Slim, sleek design
  • Nice speakers
  • Reasonable price

  • Short battery life
  • Finicky display
  • Lots of bloatware

Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition laptop is a full-featured Best Gaming Laptop Under 1000 for the gamer. It comes with latest Intel Core i7-6700HQ 2.6 GHz processor and 4GB NVIDIA GeForce 960M graphics. It has 8GB RAM and 1TB hard drive with 5400RPM hard drive rotational speed.Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black

Acer’s Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition (starting at $799, reviewed at $999) could easily pass as a business cheap gaming laptop, thanks to its elegant chassis. Don’t let the stately presentation fool you, though, because the V15 Nitro is definitely a gaming notebook, thanks to its Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M GPU. And when you’re not saving the world or rebuilding it, the system’s Intel Core i7 processor will take care of the heavy lifting on the multitasking front. It’s a solid midtier system, but less than 4 hours of battery life and a sluggish hard drive prevent the V15 Nitro from being great.

The V15 Nitro is the understated counterpoint to the aggressive Acer Predator 17. Instead of brash red stripes and a Decepticon-esque logo, the V15 Nitro utilizes a black plastic, ribbed surface for the lid, with a modest plastic metallic logo. The back of the notebook features sexy metallic hinges engraved with the Aspire V Nitro logo. I couldn’t resist running my fingers across the pleasantly textured lid, because it gave me a cathartic feeling akin to squeezing a stress ball.

One thing’s for sure, the V15 Nitro’s bottom-mounted speakers are loud. Assisted by Dolby Audio software, the cheap gaming laptop had no problem filling my bedroom with powerful, but sometimes muddy, audio. Due to the speakers’ location, the sound only got worse when I used the system in my lap. Still, chanteuse Jazmine Sullivan’s strong alto washed my room in tales of regret and longing. As much as I love Sullivan’s voice, it wasn’t enough to distract me from the submerged bass guitar or the scratchy acoustic guitar.

Typing on the V15 Nitro is a meh experience, beset by squishy keys with moderate feedback. That’s most likely due to the 1.2 millimeters of key travel (1.5 to 2 mm is ideal). The chiclet-size keyboard has normal-size keys, with the exception of the Tab and Caps Lock, which is weird, because the Right Shift key is so big. I hit 55 words per minute on the 10FastFingers Typing test, which is short of my usual 60 wpm.

The V15 Nitro’s midlevel Nvidia GeForce 960M GPU with 4GB can serve up some respectable frame rates. Some games can push a lower-tier GPU to its limit. As I explored the world of Witcher 3 on medium at 1080p, the cheap gaming laptop averaged 30 fps, matching our playability threshold.

V15 Nitro’s 2.6-GHz quad-core Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor with 8GB of RAM has you covered. The notebook performed an antivirus scan with eight open tabs in Google Chrome, one of which was streaming a lag-free episode of House of Cards.

4. MSI GE62 Apache Pro-004 Laptop for Gaming

  • PROS

Affordable price. Solid performance, thanks to an Intel Core i7-4720HQ quad-core CPU and Nvidia GeForce GTX 965M GPU. Full set of I/O ports, including mini DisplayPort. Numeric keypad.

  • CONS

No touch screen. Short battery life. A boatload of bloatware.

The MSI GE62 Apache is a serious gaming laptop for less than $1,500, and it comes with some premium components that help boost its performance.

MSI GE62 Apache Pro-004 is the best laptop under 1000 dollars 2017 by well-known gaming laptop maker MSI Corp. MSI is most famous in making of gaming laptops. It msi ge62 apache pro-004has 6th generation Intel Core i7-6700HQ 3.2 GHz processor and 2GB NVIDIA Geforce GTX960M graphics. The RAM is 16GB, and the hard drive is 1TB with 7200RPM hard drive rotational speed.

The GE62 Apache was the top scorer among similarly priced systems at the 3DMark Cloud Gate (17,174 points) and Fire Strike Extreme (2,399) tests, but again the others were close behind. Essentially, you can claim to have a faster gaming rig with the GE62 Apache, but only by a small margin. The GE62 Apache was an average performer on the PCMark 8 Work Conventional test (3,099 points) when compared with rivals. The SSD-equipped Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro was a bit faster. The MSI system was also average on the Handbrake (1 minute 18 seconds) and Adobe Photoshop CS6 (4:06) tests, but this average is really good among its ilk, thanks to the gaming rigs’ Core i7 processors. Basically, any of the entry-level gaming laptops are excellent for everyday use, as well as photo and video editing tasks.

Battery life is a bit shorter than the competition: 3 hours 15 minutes on our standard rundown test. The Acer V 15 Nitro lasted almost an hour more (4:10), and the Lenovo Y50 Touch even bests that (4:33). It’s good enough for a movie session, but keep the AC adapter hand when you’re playing.

Overall, the MSI GE62 Apache is a very good entry-level gaming laptop, with class-leading 3D performance numbers and gamer-friendly features, like the Steelseries keyboard with multi-colored backlighting. However, the Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro remains our Editors’ Choice. It’s $100 less expensive, comes with a speedy SSD, and delivers an hour more battery life.

5. Alienware 13 ANW13-2273SLV Gaming Laptop Under 1000

  • Cohesive design
  • Fantastic QHD screen
  • Packs a GTX 960M to start
  • “Future-proof”

  • Games chug at native resolution
  • Graphics Amplifier feels required
  • Stuck with a dual-core processor

Alienware 13 ANW13-2273SLV is a 13-inch cheap gaming laptop with 2.5GHz Intel Core i5-5200U processor and 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M graphics. It has 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD.

But even so, the overall shape and look of Alienware’s best gaming laptop 2017 have changed very little since the M17x of 2009. Sure, a large chunk of the heft has been lopped off, to everyone’s appreciation, but the plethora of LEDs and sharp edges you know and (maybe) love are here in full effect.Alienware 13 ANW13-2273SLV

Does the design need an complete overhaul in the face of Ultrabook-rivaling best gaming laptop 2017, like the Razer Blade? If the stellar showmanship and excellent build quality of the Alienware 13 is any indication, maybe the company can still wring what’s left from the current blueprints for a few more years before going back to the drawing board.

As it sits on a desk, the “Epic Silver” lid echoes a similar design ID that flows through Alienware’s current line of computers. Just look at the design of the humongous Alienware Area 51 desktop to see what I mean.

The lid’s narrow notches and the the little Alienware buddy light up with customizable patterns and look slick as usual. At the edges of the silver-speckled lid, the material style switches up, giving way to black, matte-textured plastic. It’s the same stuff that coats nearly all of the chassis. Connecting the lid to the body is a tough, plastic-coated hinge, which ensures a mostly wobble-free experience.

Alienware computers have a leg up on the competition when it comes to customization. This is no different for the Alienware 13, which features more than a few LEDs that can be tinkered. The built-in Command Center app illustrates the lighting sectors of the machine and allows you to modify the colors and pulsation of each.

For example, you can set each sector of LEDs to a different color, give them their own, unique behavior (Morph, Pulse, or just display the color) and even tweak the tempo of each effect. The possibilities are limitless and can look as bonkers, badass or subdued as you choose.

6. Dell Inspiron i7559-763BLK Gaming Laptop Under 1000

  • PROS

Affordable. Solid gaming performance. 1080p display. 1TB hard drive. Backlit keyboard.

  • CONS

Heavy. Speakers are tinny at the highest volume.

With its strong build, ample storage, and full HD display, the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series (7559) is an excellent entry-level best gaming laptop 2017 that delivers better performance than you’d expect for the price.

Dell Inspiron i7559-763BLK is the best gaming laptop 2017 with latest quad-core Intel Core i5-6300HQ 6th generation processor and 4GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M graphics. It has 8GB RAM and 256GB solid-state drive. The Windows 10 already installed on this best gaming laptop 2017.

Dell Inspiron i7559-763BLKThe Inspiron 15 7559 is hefty, and seems larger than its 15-inch size, perhaps due to its angular design. It’s not the most portable system, but feels sturdy and well built at 0.98 by 15 by 10.4 inches (HWD) and 5.88 pounds.

The 15.6-inch display has a 1,920-by-1,080 resolution, and has an anti-glare coating that cuts reflections to a minimum.

The keyboard is backlit with white light, unlike the Acer V 15 Nitro’s red lighting. Not all systems in this range include backlighting, such as the Acer Aspire E (E5-771G-51T2). There are two USB 3.0 ports and a headphone jack on the left of the laptop, while the right side holds another USB 3.0 port, an HDMI port, a 2-in-1 SD card reader, an Ethernet port, and a Kensington lock slot.

Our review unit has a 2.3GHz sixth-generation Intel Core i5-6300HQ processor and 8GB of memory. Combined with the discrete Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics card, this system is well-equipped for most work and entertainment tasks.

Performance was equally good on the Heaven and Valley gaming tests, achieving 74 frames per second (fps) on both at Medium-quality settings.

The Dell Inspirion 15 7000 Series (7559) is an excellent value, offering good gaming and productivity performance at a reasonable price. It scored close to more-expensive systems on the tests, even beating them in some cases. And it sports a solid, albeit somewhat hefty, chassis and a full HD display and manages to include extras like dual-band wireless, Ethernet, Bluetooth, a backlit keyboard, and decent port options. The Alienware 15 is at the very top end of the budget price range, and though it does offer more features, and its performance on some tests was better, the differences aren’t worth the $700 jump in price. For those reasons, the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series (7559) is our new Editors’ Choice for entry-level gaming laptops.

7. ASUS K501UW-AB78 Gaming Laptop Under 1000

  • Skylake processor
  • Dual fan cooling system
  • GeForce GTX 960M
  • Crisp Full-HD display

  • No USB 3.1 Type-C
  • No IPS display
  • No optical drive

Bottom Line

The ASUS K501UW-AB78 is a sleek gaming laptop that offers great hardware for gamers who are constantly on the go. But the lack of a USB 3.1 Type-C port means that it is not as future proof as some of its competitors.

ASUS K501UW-AB78 is a 15.6-inch best gaming laptop with NVIDIA GTX 960M 2GB graphics and Intel Core i7-6500U 2.5GHz processor. It has 8GB RAM and 512GB Solid-State Drive. The Windows 10 installed on this gaming laptop.

ASUS K501UW-AB78 is a bestselling 2016 gaming laptop that has been praised for its NVIDIA GTX 960M processor, for its sleek aluminum design and for its sharp Full-HD display. Featuring a 512GB solid state drive, the ASUS K501UW-AB78 offers gamers superfast speeds and enough storage space for modern gaming titles. But the lack of a USB 3.1 Type-C means that an external GPU dock can’t be used to future proof the ASUS K501UW-AB78 for future games.ASUS K501UW-AB78

The 15.6″ screen features crispy Full HD resolution and anti-glare coating. But unfortunately, IPS technology for wide viewing angles has been omitted on this model. Also, touchscreen functionality is missing, as same as a built-in DVD drive.

Outfitted in the ASUS K501UW-AB78 is a sixth-generation Intel Core i7-6500U 2.5GHz (Turbo up to 3.1GHz) processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M gaming graphics card. Combined with 8GB of memory, this system is well-suited for most work/college tasks and gaming needs. The Skylake processors averages 4340 points on CPU Mark, which is excellent for a system of its caliber. Since it’s a dual core processor, the machine can pretty much deliver on anything thrown its way, and if you have some bottlenecks, it won’t be the processor for sure.

During our tests, the system remained surprisingly cool and quiet even after hours of use. The system was able to complete media projects in record time and I was even able to edit some HD videos and process some spreadsheets concurrently without the machine stuttering. This is quite something the office user or student who once in a while indulges in MS Office projects, but later jumps into gaming.

As a conclusion, the ASUS K501UW-AB78 is a superb laptop which offers users a healthy mix of powerful computing, great features, decent battery life and a sleek, unassuming design. It can be used as a complete desktop replacement, as an all-rounder, best gaming laptop under 1000, multimedia device, work laptop or college notebook.

8.HP CUK Pavilion 15

  • Brilliant battery life
  • Large hard drive
  • Low price
  • Pleasing styling
  • Full-sized keyboard

  • Unimpressive screen
  • Single-channel memory
  • Flimsy construction
  • Rattling optical drive
  • Poor core performance

There’s a lot of design continuity between last year’s Pavilion series and this year’s models, meaning that not a lot has changed in the looks department. Users will still get a unibody polycarbonate design with a variety of color options.

HP claims that its unibody “Lumia-like” shell design makes the Pavilion feel solid while using less parts, a design approach that Nokia – now Microsoft – favors over metal for its Windows Phone devices. The construction feels quite solid with one solid piece of plastic for the lid, another piece for the sides and undercarriage, and a keyboard deck. Build quality seems to be on par with Apple’s retired plastic MacBooks of yore.HP UK Pavilion 15

In addition to housing on a full-sized keyboard, HP is also including a number pad on its larger Pavilion notebooks. The 15- and 17-inch Pavilion models will come with a number pad for easier number entry, which will be an excellent feature for students using the computer for math, statistics, finance and those who spend hours in Excel.

Lacking a discrete graphics processor, the Pavilion line is more suitable for general computing use than for gaming or high-end graphics or video production. Casual gamers will likely be able to run games in more conservative modes with reduced resolutions or frame rates on the integrated Intel or AMD GPU.

HP allows customers to configure the Pavilion notebooks with either AMD’s 6th Generation A-Series or Intel’s 5th Generation Core i3, i5 or i7 processors. HP claims that the efficiency provided by this year’s processors bring better battery life. On the 15-inch model that I saw, HP states that battery life comes in at over eight hours, which should last users for a full school day if they don’t mind carrying the weight of the notebook with them.

HP has done something I never thought I would see. The brand is more known for lower-end multimedia laptops, but their new gaming laptop sure deliver. The HP CUK is the only gaming laptop you can find, with the latest from the next generation of graphics cards, the Nvidia GTX 1050 for under 1000.

And let me tell you one thing. The GTX 1050 is a huge improvement from the old standard in this price range the GTX 960m. The user benchmarks show that the Nvidia GTX 1050 is 64% stronger than the Nvidia GTX 960m.

But what really matters is how it runs the latest games. And the fps on the latest games are great, it will play most modern games smoothly on high settings and many, even run smoothly on ultra settings. Check for yourself for the benchmarks at the end of this article.

The design is the most ordinary on the list. No flashy colors, no bulky design, and no flashy details. Instead, it has a more well rounded clean look. It is also lightweight for being a best gaming laptop under 1000, around 5 pounds (2.2 kg). The screen is alright but not the best on the list.

9.Dell Inspiron i7559-3762GRY

Skylake quad core processor, which is the ultimate solution for gaming. Hybrid storage capacity which improves software loading speed. 4K 15.6″ touchscreen for a very appealing price, as 4K screens are still not popular with cheap gaming laptop. GeForce GTX 960M with 4GB of dedicated memory, which is in pair with the most expensive best gaming laptops.

The biggest con about this cheap gaming laptop is the fact that it comes with just 8GB RAM, which is not necessarily bad, but I’d recommend upgrading to 16GB for an enhanced gaming experience (you can easily do that with less than 100 dollars).

Yes, it is true. There is finally a cheap gaming laptop with an Ultra HD display available for under 1000. The screen is not perfect. It could have been a bit brighter, but when you use it, you notice something. It is miles ahead of ordinary 1080p screens.
The excellent screen is just one of the many great things about the Dell Inspiron inspiron i7559-3762gry

The design reminds of the other Dell in our lists modest and professional look. In fact, this is the same cheap gaming laptop but with a better screen and stronger hardware.

The graphics card is the standard if you want to have the best in this price range, the GTX 960M with 4GB dedicated memory for gaming. The included SSD is mostly used to speed things up. The combination of the solid i7-6300 quad-core processor, the SSD, and the 8GB fast (2133mhz) ram makes this laptop blazing fast for the money.

Dell Inspiron i7559-3762GRY enjoys a high-performance processor, Intel Core i5-6300HQ that is. The essential specs are quad-core setup, 2.3GHz clock speed, 3.2GHz turbo and CPU Mark score of ~5700. You will find such a processor much faster than i3s, and any power user stuff like multitasking or multimedia editing is not a problem here. This is backed up by the fact that the best gaming laptop under 1000 has 8GB memory (one stick) which you can upgrade to 16GB.

Don’t forget this unit comes with a gaming-friendly graphics card, GeForce GTX 960M (4GB dedicated GDDR5 memory). Any game as of Spring 2016 and near future will run flawlessly; most even with plenty of eye candy on. To give you an example, GTA 5 shall run at ca. 50 FPS when settings are high and resolution 1080p.

Ah, the screen, it looks like an excellent one. The 15.6″ touch display offers IPS panel (~180 degree viewing angle) and Ultra HD (3840×2160) resolution, sweet. Just don’t forget that everything will actually look darn small on the screen if you use that resolution – so considering lowering it!

Dell Inspiron i7559-3762GRY has a preinstalled 64-bit Windows 10 Home in it and weighs 4.6 pounds so if you want to play games or work on it at different places, you can easily carry it around with yourself. The dimensions of the cheap gaming laptop are 15.1, 15.1, and 10.4 inches with respect to its length, width and height. The laptop has an integrated 74WHr, 6-cell lithium-ion battery, which means that the battery cannot be replaced. Therefore, if it is damaged, you’ll have to send it back to the company to get it repaired.

I don’t personally think Amazon can keep the price for a cheap gaming laptop like this under 1000 for very long. So don’t hesitate, buy it on Amazon today to buy a 4K cheap gaming laptop for a bargain price.

10.Asus GL553VD

  • Great display quality
  • Speakers produce rich sound
  • Attractive design

  • Underwhelming performance
  • Heats up fast, doesn’t cool down
  • Structural issues
  • Poor battery life

Sure, the Asus GL553VD is not as good of a deal as the Dell i17559 (#2) or have the screen of the 3762GRY (#3). But what it do have, is some excellent gaming performance with the powerful Nvidia GeForce 1050 GPU. And an attractive design to top it off.

Asus GL553VDThe build quality is solid. With a plastic cover, aluminum lid and orange details, you get a look that shows that this is a machine designed for gaming. The gaming keyboard looks great with customizable RGB lighting in 4 different zones. The screen is great, with sharp images and vivid colors. The only issue there is how it’s designed is that the lid is susceptible to fingerprints.

With 16 GB 2133 Mhz RAM, a fast 7200 rpm 1 TB hard drive and the recently released Intel i7-7700HQ you get a combo that will make running even the most resource intensive applications a breeze. And as the benchmark at the end of this NotebookCheck article show, the Nvidia 1050 inside the Asus GL553VD deliver. Getting a stable fps on high settings is great considering this is a cheap gaming laptop with a less than 1000 dollar price tag.

At 5.6 pounds and 15.1 x 10 x 1.2 inches, the cheap gaming laptop is easy to carry around and jam into a backpack to game on the go. The MSI GS63VR 6RF Stealth Pro is both lighter and slimmer, at 4.2 pounds and 14.9 x 9.8 x 0.7 inches. Unsurprisingly, the 17-inch Alienware R3 is heavier (8.3 pounds) and has a much larger footprint, at 16.9 x 11.5 x 1.4 inches.

The sides of the Strix are lined with ports for expansion and networking. On the left, you’ll find an Ethernet jack, HDMI output, two USB 3.0 ports, a USB Type-C port and a headphone jack. The right side is sparser, with a sole USB 2.0 port, a DVD drive and a Kensington lock slot. An SD card reader is located beneath the palm rest.

The 15.6-inch, 1080p screen on the Strix is sharp and colorful. When I watched a full-HD trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming, the red in Spidey’s suit was the perfect shade of crimson and the blue was nice and deep, while the fur in the villainous Vulture’s collar was nice and sharp.

When I played Grand Theft Auto V, the bright-red warning lights bathed the scene of an early bank heist in an eerie glow as Trevor and Michael attempted to blast their way through a battalion of cops. Details were crisp enough during the barrage of bullets that I could make out little creases in a security guard’s shirt.

The keyboard on the Strix is extremely comfortable. Thanks to its deep 2 millimeters of travel and 62 grams of required force to depress the keys, I never found myself bottoming out on the keyboard deck. On the typing test, I cruised along at 115 words per minute (the high end of my average range) and my usual 2 percent error rate. My only complaint is that I wish the keys would pop up faster and with more force, which would be especially useful for gaming.

The battery life will last around 4 hours of standard usage, but if you do some gaming, you better bring a power adapter with you, because then you need to find an outlet way sooner than that.

11. Lenovo Y700 Gaming Laptop Under 1000

  • PROS

Terrific battery life. Good performance, features for the price. Decent amount of storage.

  • CONS

Video card may soon be obsolete. No USB-C port.

Lenovo’s 15-inch Ideapad Y700 Touch might not be an obvious choice if you’re in the market for a midrange gaming laptop, but with superb battery life and good performance and features for the price, it should be on your short list.

Lenovo Y is one of the most popular series for gaming, and they improve gaming features in new gaming laptops. The Lenovo Y700 is a hot new gaming laptop under $1000 from Lenovo with new improvements. It has a 15.6-inch full HD display. The latest 6th generation Intel Core i7-6700HQ 2.6 GHz processor and NVIDIA GTX960M 4GB GDDR5 graphics boost up your gaming performance. It has 8GB RAM and 1TB hard drive with 7200RPM hard drive rotational speed.Lenovo Y700

Considering its internal components are almost identical to those of the MSI GE72 6QD Apache Pro we recently reviewed, it’s not surprising that the Y700 Touch exhibits similar performance. In our 3D graphics and gaming tests (which, let’s face it, are what count with a computer like this), the two were neck and neck, with the Y700 Touch winning on 3DMark Cloud Gate with a score of 17,332 (to 17,041), and the MSI slightly edging it out in just about everything else (2,039 versus 2,008 in Fire Strike Extreme; 75 frames per second, or fps, in Heaven using medium detail settings, versus 70fps; 25fps versus 24fps in the same test with the details turned up; 82fps versus 79fps in Valley at medium settings, and a wash at higher settings with both nabbing 28fps).

How much you care about gaming will determine how much you’re willing to spend on a cheap gaming laptop dedicated to it. There are screaming machines that can blast through the latest AAA titles almost as well as ultra-expensive desktops, but that privilege will definitely cost you. One of our favorites, the Origin EON17-X$1,716.00 at Origin PC, rings up at $2,692—and that’s nowhere near as high as you can go.

The Acer Predator 15 (G9-591-74KN) knocks off a couple of hundred dollars from that, while still laying out more robust and future-proofed hardware and storage. The 15-inch Lenovo Ideapad Y700 Touch can’t quite compete with either in terms of gaming performance, but it beats the MSI GE72 6QD Apache Pro and even Lenovo’s own Y700-17 on value and compensates for what it lacks with a touch screen and top-notch battery life.

If you’re drop-dead serious about squeezing the most you can from today’s biggest games without squeezing your bank account dry, you’d be better off going with a GTX 980M–equipped model like the Acer or the pricier MSI GT72 Dominator Pro G-1438. But if you consider the touch screen and almost-as-good gaming for most of a full day off-plug viable substitutes, the Y700 Touch is worth a look.

12.Acer Vn7-592G

  • Powerful Nvidia graphics core
  • Fast Core i7 processor
  • Bright screen with decent colours
  • Good keyboard
  • Punchy, rich speakers

  • Processor throttles at high temperatures
  • Underwhelming design
  • Middling battery life

Acer Vn7-592GIf you are looking for versatility as well as a good value, the Aser V17 Nitro is the computer you should choose. Many of the gaming laptops under $1000 in this list have lit up keyboards and flashy gaming designs. The Acer V7 Nitro took the other route with a more elegant and polished design. The laptop has a soft slimmed-down plastic case with a smooth but firm feel. The interior is sleek and uses Acers soft touch technology, making the Vn7 pleasure to rest your palms on.

This best gaming laptop 2017 is not only designed for futureproof gaming, but it will also suit all your needs. The v17 nitro is backed by the fast (2133 MHz) DDR4 RAM memory and the fastest processor you will find for the price. The Intel Core i7-6700HQ quad-core processor based on the Skylake Architecture makes even the most demanding applications run like a breeze. So no matter if you want to run 3d modeling programs, Photoshop, code or maybe just play the latest games to the fullest extent, this computer won’t let you down.

The graphics card inside is the GTX 960M, a card we already concluded above, plays most of the newest games smoothly at high quality. The computer still does have some flaws; it’s after all only placed fifth. The screens response time of 25ms is a bit lower than many of the cheap gaming laptop placed above. If you ever feel like updating the notebook, you better take your time as the computer is not easy to upgrade. The V17 also have the common cheap gaming laptop problem of getting hot during intense gaming sessions.

The Full HD resolution and 15.6in diagonal are a good start for this jack-of-all-trades machine, and we like the matte coating that keeps distracting reflections to a minimum. As you’d expect for this sort of machine, it’s not a touchscreen so keeps baby’s fingers clear of this one.

The display performed well in benchmarks. Its 313 nits brightness is plenty, and it’s better than the HP, even if it can’t match the two Asus machines. It’s bolstered by an inky black level of 0.29 nits, which is darker than every competitor.

The measured contrast ratio of 1,079:1 is excellent, but it’s a double-edged sword. The good contrast and brightness levels mean that colours are vibrant, and we had no issues telling subtle, light shades apart, and gradients showed no sign of banding. That’s great for gaming, as colours will look punchy.

The excellent black level means that dark tones were suitably inky, but we couldn’t tell subtle dark shades apart – these tended to blend together. That, conversely, isn’t so good for gaming and films, as dark scenes will be hindered.

Colour accuracy is reasonable. The colour temperature of 6,564K is excellent, but the Delta E of 5.17 is average – even if it’s still better than most of its rivals. Our final criticisms are minor: viewing angles aren’t the best, with brightness lost when moving horizontally, and there’s a slight grain to the finish.

The muddied black levels and grainy finish mean the Acer’s screen doesn’t get a clean bill of health, but it still compares well to its rivals – it’s got good brightness and contrast, accurate colours and a sensible resolution. You’ll only get a better panel if you spend more on high-end gaming laptops or an Ultrabook.

A quartet of speakers bolster the Acer’s media credentials. They’re very loud, and well-balanced, with subtle and pleasant bass underlining a decent mid-range and a high-end that’s soft and delicate. We’d have no qualms about using these for music, movies or games.

13. Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-76YK Gaming Laptop Under 1000

  • PROS

Great price. Discrete graphics card. Strong productivity and multimedia performance. Long battery life in testing.

  • CONS

Touchpad feels flimsy. No Bluetooth. Lacks keyboard backlighting.

The Acer Aspire E5-573G-57HR is a capable desktop-replacement laptop with long battery life, a 1080p screen, and hardware suited to strenuous daily tasks, all at a fairly affordable price.

Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-76YK is a 15.6-inch best budget gaming laptop under 1000 dollars with the latest Intel Core i7-6500U 2.6GHz processor and new 2GB NVIDIA Geforce GT940MX graphics. It has 8GB RAM and 256GB Solid State Drive.Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575G-76YK

The cheap gaming laptop has a fairly attractive design, with black, textured plastic on the exterior meant to mimic the look of brushed aluminum. This material coats the entire outside of the unit, and while it doesn’t feel particularly cheap, it’s not a real substitute for a more premium metal. The interior plastic housing the keyboard is made of a similar gray material with a textured diamond pattern. At 1.1 by 15 by 10.1 inches (HWD), the E5-573G-57HR is a slim-looking laptop, but at 5.29 pounds, it isn’t as light as it appears.

The E5-573G-57HR has a 2.2GHz Intel Core i5-5200U processor and an Nvidia GeForce 940M graphics card with 2GB of video memory. As a result, the system performed admirably on our productivity tests, scoring 2,473 points on the PCMark 8 Work Conventional test and 259 on the CineBench R15 test. These results compare well with the much pricier Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 15, which scored 2,508 and 193, respectively, and the Dell Inspiron 14 (5447)$749.00 at Dell Small Business, which scored 2,732 and 166.

The Acer Aspire E5-573G-57HR is a top-notch desktop-replacement cheap gaming laptop, with a better display and more powerful gaming and processing capabilities than similarly priced machines. While the system can’t run the most demanding games or play the majority of titles on high settings, it’s a modest option that still costs at least several hundred dollars less than a specialized gaming laptop. Given its strong performance on multimedia tests and its hardware that compares well with more expensive midrange systems, the E5-573G-57HR is our Editors’ Choice midrange desktop-replacement laptop.

14. Dell i7559-2512BLK Gaming Laptop Under 1000

  • PROS

Affordable. Solid gaming performance. 1080p display. 1TB hard drive. Backlit keyboard.

  • CONS

Heavy. Speakers are tinny at the highest volume.

With its strong build, ample storage, and full HD display, the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series (7559) is an excellent entry-level gaming laptop that delivers better performance than you’d expect for the price.

Dell i7559-2512BLKDell Inspiron i7559-2512BLK is a 15.6-inch best gaming laptop under 1000 dollars with Intel Core i7-6700HQ 3.2 GHz processor and NVIDIA Geforce GTX960M 4GB graphics. It has 8GB RAM and 1TB hard drive with 5400rpm hard drive rotational speed.

The Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series (7559) is a gaming laptop that offers solid performance at a very reasonable price (starts at $749.99; $799.99 as tested). This system is powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experience on all but the highest settings with its full HD display and discrete Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics card, and it can efficiently perform daily work and media tasks when you’re not playing.

The Alienware 15 , our former Editors’ Choice, is at the very top of the price range for the category, and doesn’t offer a significant enough increase in performance for the price. As such, the Inspiron 15 7000 Series (7559) is our new Editors’ Choice for entry-level gaming laptops.

The Inspiron 15 7559 is hefty, and seems larger than its 15-inch size, perhaps due to its angular design. It’s not the most portable system, but feels sturdy and well built at 0.98 by 15 by 10.4 inches (HWD) and 5.88 pounds.

Our review unit has a 2.3GHz sixth-generation Intel Core i5-6300HQ processor and 8GB of memory. Combined with the discrete Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics card, this system is well-equipped for most work and entertainment tasks. It scored 2,833 points on the PCMark 8 Work Conventional test, not too far behind the Acer V 15 Nitro, which $400 more expensive (3,160 points), and ahead of the Dell Inspiron 14 (2,732 points).

15.MSI GE72 APACHE-264 Gaming Laptop under 1000

  • Large display
  • Tons of storage
  • Strong performance

  • Bulky and heavy
  • Battery life is not great

The MSI GE72 Apache Pro has a 6th-generation Intel i7-6700HQ and GeForce GTX 960M GPU, along with 16GB of RAM, giving it ample power for modern games. It can’t compete with a comparably-equipped custom desktop when it comes to price, but the premium buys you a portable machine with a quality screen and excellent keyboard.msi ge72 apache-264

As seems to be the trend in modern gaming laptops, the GE72 takes its design cues from modern sports cars. The angular design looks aggressive, as though the cheap gaming laptop would be right at home tearing around the Nurburgring Ring in Germany.

The MSI gaming badge on the lid adds to the sports car theme. In fact, when closed, the whole cheap gaming laptop looks like it could be the hood of some unannounced European sports car.

The cheap gaming laptop case is made of an attractive black, brushed aluminum, which does an adequate job repelling smudges and fingerprints; as long as electronics come in either black or some shade of metallic grey, though, smudges and stains come part and parcel with the experience.

However, the plastic trackpad feels off, especially taken with the rest of the laptop. The plastic is designed to mimic the look of the brushed aluminum, but it has a cheap feel to it.

As far as cooling, the MSI GE72 does an excellent job of managing heat, even while under load. I play a lot of Fallout 4 with the best gaming laptop under 1000 resting on my lap, and it never becomes so warm that I worry it’s on the cusp of a shut-down.

There’s an option to turn the fans on manually to help push heat away from the sensitive electronics. However, the only time I’ve turned it on was when I was playing around with it, not because it needed the cooling boost.

A 17-inch computer means there’s plenty of room for all the ports you’d expect to find on a desktop gaming rig. The GE72 has an SD reader, two USB 3.0 ports and a single USB 2.0 port, headphone and mic combo jack, HDMI, mini DisplayPort, and even a USB-C.

But perhaps the most wonderful (and increasingly rare) for a gamer is an honest-to-goodness ethernet port.
